BENGALURU: Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Saturday claimed he knows who complained against him to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and has informed Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
Declining to reveal the complainant’s identity or confirm whether the person belonged to Congress, Jarkiholi said everyone had the right to lodge complaints. He asserted that he would face the inquiry with facts and documents and fight the case legally.
“I know who gave the complaint. I knew it earlier… I have told the CM who has given,” he said.
Asked whether the complainant was from Congress, he said the CM would look into it. “They may be or may not be. I have told him about the person who made the allegations,” he said.
Jarkiholi added that the person had a relationship with Congress but voted for BJP, making it a “50:50 case”.
The ED on Friday said it seized Rs 3.45 crore during September 9-10 searches against Jarkiholi, his family and others in a FEMA probe into alleged undisclosed overseas investments and cross-border business links. It alleged the family acquired stakes in foreign entities and collected “bribes” from PWD contractors.
Jarkiholi denied overseas investments and said the ED release contained only allegations. “I will place the facts before the ED… let the truth come out,” he said.
On Friday, he said Rs 2 crore seized from his home belonged to him and cited his business’s annual turnover of around Rs 2,000 crore. He also suggested “politics” behind the searches and said Shivakumar had warned ministers about possible raids.
