Kannada actor Risheekaa Singh has triggered a social media controversy after criticising the trailer of Yash’s upcoming film Toxic, particularly objecting to its romantic and intimate scenes and questioning the actor’s decision to be part of them. Her remark that she would “make you vacate Karnataka” if women were not respected drew strong reactions from Yash’s fans online.
In a video shared on social media, Risheekaa said she was disappointed by the romantic and intimate portions featured in the Toxic trailer. Addressing Yash directly, she said she expected him to show greater respect towards women, noting that he is a husband and father. She also said she did not approve of the imagery shown in the trailer.
Her comments became more pointed when she said, “If women are not respected, we will make you vacate Karnataka.” She concluded the video by repeatedly saying, “I am Toxic.”
The video soon went viral, prompting several Yash fans to respond to her remarks. A section of social media users questioned her objection to scenes from a fictional film involving consenting adult actors. Others referred to statements made by the female actors in Toxic, who have spoken positively about their experience working with Yash and the film’s team.
Some social media users also shared clips and photographs from Risheekaa’s earlier film appearances and photoshoots while questioning her criticism of the intimate scenes in Toxic.
At the same time, another section of users supported Risheekaa for expressing her views publicly and praised her for raising the issue.
The controversy comes as Toxic continues to generate considerable buzz following the release of its trailer. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has attracted attention for its scale, visuals and action sequences, with the trailer presenting it as one of the most ambitious Kannada productions in recent years. The film has been made in multiple languages, including English, and is scheduled for a multilingual release.
