The Bigg Boss Tamil franchise is set to enter a new phase with a special format that will bring common people into the spotlight. Ahead of the 10th season, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi, the franchise has introduced Bigg Boss: The Common Man, a platform that will give aspiring contestants from different walks of life an opportunity to showcase their personalities and compete for a chance to enter the Bigg Boss house.
The initiative began with a special audition call for people across Tamil Nadu. Vijay Sethupathi appeared in a promotional video inviting aspiring participants to submit audition videos explaining why they deserved a place in the Bigg Boss universe. The new format aims to discover everyday people with the personality, individuality and presence needed to make an impression on the show. Participants will go through a series of challenges, including personality-based interactions and task-oriented activities, designed to test their individuality and ability to entertain viewers. Those who emerge successful will get an opportunity to enter the Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 house as contestants.
The judging panel features three familiar faces from the Bigg Boss Tamil universe — Aari Arujunan, Raju Jeyamohan and Oviya, all former contestants. Aari, who won Season 4, and Raju, the Season 5 winner, will return to the franchise in new roles, while Oviya, who became one of the most popular and talked-about contestants after appearing in the first season, will also join the panel. The trio will assess the aspiring contestants and select those who have the potential to make an impact in the main show.
Maya S. Krishnan, who participated in Bigg Boss Season 7, will host the new format. Known for her energetic and versatile personality, Maya will guide contestants through the selection process, interact with the judges and oversee the competition among those hoping to secure a place in the Bigg Boss house.
The show has been given a dedicated set at EVP Film City in Chennai, which has been created separately from the main Bigg Boss house. Unlike a captive reality format, contestants will arrive at the set for their shoots and challenges and leave after completing their participation.
Bigg Boss: The Common Man is scheduled to premiere on August 16 on JioHotstar and Star Vijay, with new episodes airing daily. It will be telecast on Star Vijay at 10 pm from Monday to Friday and at 5:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The show will also be available for streaming on JioHotstar.
