VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday questioned whether Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh would accept moral responsibility and resign over the alleged irregularities in the DSC teacher recruitment examinations, following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak issue.
In a post on X, Jagan said Pradhan’s resignation had set a benchmark for political accountability under the NDA government and asked whether the same standards would be applied in Andhra Pradesh.
“Will Nara Lokesh take moral responsibility for the serious irregularities in the DSC recruitment process involving nearly 3.5 lakh aspirants, or will Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu shield his son instead of upholding the accountability the NDA claims to stand for?” Jagan asked.
He also shared a copy of a letter addressed by the YSRCP to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the much-publicised “Mega DSC” recruitment drive had been designed to facilitate large-scale irregularities under the supervision of the State government.
Jagan alleged that the recruitment process had caused hardship to lakhs of candidates and claimed that Andhra Pradesh had never witnessed such a flawed recruitment exercise. He accused the government of weakening institutional safeguards and compromising transparency in the recruitment of around 16,000 teacher posts.
According to the letter, the YSRCP alleged that key safeguards meant to ensure a fair and transparent selection process had been dismantled, resulting in widespread irregularities.
Claiming that the alleged scandal was rooted at the highest levels of the State government, including Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, the YSRCP demanded an independent probe by an agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The State government is yet to respond to the allegations.
