HYDERABAD: Hyderabad shooter Esha Singh won the gold medal, while double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker claimed bronze in the Women’s 25m Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, China, on Sunday.
Esha shot 40 hits in the final to clinch gold, while Manu secured bronze with 28 hits after winning a crucial shoot-off.
The Indian duo had also dominated the qualification round, with Manu topping the standings with 586-20x and Esha finishing second with 585-18x to qualify for the final.
Speaking after her victory, Esha said she was pleased to overcome the pressure of defending her reputation following her record-breaking performance at the Munich World Cup earlier this year.
The gold adds another major achievement to the 21-year-old Hyderabad shooter’s career, after she set senior and junior world records at the Munich World Cup. Manu said the bronze medal would boost her confidence ahead of the World Championships and the Asian Games.
