Yash is set to return to the big screen with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, and the scale of its release has already generated significant buzz. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is expected to open across around 12,000 screens worldwide, potentially making it one of the biggest global releases for an Indian film.
Toxic is scheduled to release on August 26, with advance bookings set to begin on August 21, coinciding with the Varamahalakshmi festival. The five-day advance booking window is expected to build further momentum ahead of the film’s theatrical debut.
The massive screen count comes with considerable expectations, particularly as Toxic marks Yash’s first theatrical release since KGF: Chapter 2. The actor is returning to cinemas after a four-year gap with a film being positioned as a gangster drama with a global scale.
While the final screen count is yet to be officially confirmed, the expected worldwide release across 12,000 screens underlines the scale of the film’s theatrical ambitions.
‘Toxic’ Set for Wide Release Across India and Overseas
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash in the lead role alongside an ensemble cast comprising Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.
The film has secured a wide distribution network across multiple territories. KVN Productions will distribute the film in Karnataka, while Panorama Films is handling its release in Kerala. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film will be released by Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations.
AA Films has acquired the distribution rights for North India and Nepal. In Tamil Nadu, the film will be distributed by Think Studios, S Picture, White Nights through Trident Arts, and Five Star Senthil. Phars Film will handle the overseas distribution of the Indian-language versions.
The English version has a separate international distribution arrangement with Lionsgate, with further details about its release expected to be announced soon.
Yash Returns With a Global-Scale Gangster Drama
Produced by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is mounted as a gangster drama with a strong international footprint.
The film has cinematography by Rajeev Ravi, music by Vishal Mishra and a background score by Ravi Basrur. It will release in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, along with an English version.
For Yash, the film represents more than just a comeback. Following the phenomenal success of KGF: Chapter 2, Toxic marks his first opportunity to establish a new theatrical franchise and expand his reach beyond the KGF universe.
With an expected 12,000-screen release, a multi-language rollout, a five-day advance booking window and distribution across major domestic and international markets, Toxic is aiming for an opening that matches the scale of its ambitions.
